"Notes
from a Beach in Kauai"
--excerpt
from travel log--
Reclining on a large rock under a canopy of thick
fruit trees hanging over the beach... Foot dangling over the edge
of the volcanic sofa we lay on; the tide laps at my toes, the water
is warm and clean.
Today,
I've been decompressing. It's amazing what can happen when you have
the opportunity to get bored. I'm liking it.
Walking
along the beach to get here I spotted beautiful tropical fish just
beneath the surface. The beach is 3 miles long, secluded, and its
soft sand holds huge volcanic rocks that look like giant licorice
drops, smooth and shiny. As I sit on one of the licorice lounges,
a crab does some side-step dashing along the beach in front of me.
One minute there's a light warm mist falling from the sky… the next
it's sunny and a quiet breeze carries over us…
